If a ship fails to complete the work during this allotted time and the ship is required to stay at a port for a longer time, then demurrage (fine) is incurred to the ship owner<\/p>\n<h2>How to clarify Lay time\/ Lay day in a charter contract<\/h2>\n<p>1. Running days: consecutive days in accordance with schedul<\/p>\n<p>2. Working days:\u00a0consecutive working days (exclude Saturday, Sunday unless use)<\/p>\n<p>3. Working days of 24 hours<\/p>\n<p>4. Working days of 24 consecutive hours:\u00a0A period of\u00a024 consecutive working hours would be stated as a unit of time<\/p>\n<p>5.
